Therapy is a process that can help us to gain new perspectives and find the support that we need to successfully deal with our life challenges. We have the opportunity to explore our feelings and talk about confusing and stressful experiences in a safe place. We can learn new skills to better cope with feelings of anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, family struggles, trauma and burdensome issues that can overwhelm us. A look back at our history will allow us to have a better understanding of the past experiences, family and cultural ideas that have influenced our beliefs. The healing power of therapy offers many possibilities for accessing our inner strength, feeling a greater confidence and living a richer, more grounded and fulfilling life.
• Children and Families
Working with parents is always the first and sometimes the best way to support a child at a difficult time because your attachment ties are most important to your children.
An assessment is made with the parents to decide whether children /teens would benefit from their own relationship to a therapist endorsed by their parents, or work with members of the whole family in different grouping to help everyone stabilize family life with more structure, empathy and new understanding.
• Parent Coaching
There are times when one parent seeks coaching to support the complicated job of connecting or reconnecting with their child(ren) after upsetting family events. Parents benefit from adding to their knowledge of their child’s experience to create a safe and secure relationship. We discuss your child’s temperament, age, traumatic experiences that create vigilance and anxiety, your parenting style and strengths to create a new empathy and understanding with your child. Often we talk in very practical terms so that you can have new experiences with your children.
